Blog > We will no longer be accepting personal checks
Posted March 5, 2024
In the ever-evolving landscape of commerce, adaptation is key. We at the Matteson Area Public Library District strive to streamline operations and enhance the patron experience, it sometimes becomes necessary to make changes that may inconvenience some but ultimately benefit all. With this in mind, we regret to inform you that we will no longer be accepting personal checks as a form of payment. We understand this may pose challenges for some, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused. However, we remain committed to providing alternative payment options to ensure a seamless transaction process.
Embracing Change
Change, though often met with resistance, is an inevitable part of progress. As technology advances and consumer preferences shift, we must adapt to meet the evolving needs of our patronage. In our case, the decision to discontinue accepting personal checks was made after careful consideration of various factors, including efficiency, security, and personal demand.
Enhancing Security and Efficiency
While personal checks have been a traditional form of payment for decades, they also come with inherent risks and inefficiencies. Processing checks can be time-consuming and labor-intensive, requiring manual verification and potential delays in funds availability. Moreover, the rise of electronic payment methods has led to increased concerns about check fraud and security breaches.
By transitioning away from personal checks, we aim to streamline our payment processing procedures, reduce the risk of fraud, and enhance overall security. Embracing modern payment technologies allows us to offer faster, more reliable transactions while safeguarding sensitive financial information.
Continued Convenience
Although we are discontinuing the acceptance of personal checks, we remain dedicated to providing convenient payment options for our customers. We will continue to accept all major credit cards, cash, and money orders as alternative forms of payment. Whether you prefer the convenience of card transactions, the simplicity of cash, or the security of money orders, rest assured that you will still have multiple options to complete your business with ease.
Thank you for your continued patronage.
